Yellow French bean "Sonesta" (Phaseolus vulgaris) is a delicious and resistant variety valued for its high consumptional value, taste and tenderness. It is considered one of the earliest French bean varieties. It ripens unequally, so repeated harvest by hand is recommended. High resistance to adverse weather and environmental conditions belongs to the most important advantages of this variety. It also successfully withstands attacks of the common bean diseases. This plant grows low, but is very productive. It displays erect, branched habit. The fleshy and tender pods it develops take on eye-pleasing sunny yellow colour and grow 12 - 13 long and over 1 cm wide.
French bean should be sown from mid-May, when the soil has sufficiently warmed up, to mid-July. "Sonesta" bean seeds need to be sown into soil with a pH over 5.5. The soil should also be fertile, rich in humus and nutrients, as well as moderately moist. This variety survives temperature and air humidity fluctuations. It is recommended for cultivation in early spring or in autumn under covers.
