Zucchini "Striato d’Italia" (Cucurbita pepo) is an unusual, visually attractive variety. This annual plant shows great vigour and a bushy habit. Its elongated, club-shaped fruit ripen early. Dark green peel is decorated with pale green stripes that turn yellow as the fruit mature. The flesh is firm and takes on a pleasant, creamy grean colour. The fruit stand out with great taste, particularly the young ones. Zucchinis supply us with necessary vitamins and minerals.

You will achieve better quality, richer crops growing zucchinis from seedlings, produced in a heated room. Seeds are sown to pots in mid-April. Zucchini seeds may also be sown to the ground, but no earlier than mid-May, when the risk of frosts is over. At the same time the already prepared seedlings are transplanted to the permanent site. Zucchinis need to be grown in 1 x 1 m spacings. You may expect first crops after circa two months. The plants bear fruit continuously until first frosts. Young fruit, 18 - 20 cm long, display the highest taste and nutritional value. Zucchini needs a sunny site with fertile, moist soil to grow well and yield rich crops.
