The Alabaster F1 daikon is a summer variety that produces long, cylindrical, white roots. A ripe plant has a 40 to 45-centimetre-long root, that measures 6 to 8 centimetres in diameter, and weighs, 800 to 900 grams. Tender, crunchy flesh is hidden under a smooth peel. This vegetable tastes heavenly raw as addition to sandwiches and salads, served as a side dish to meat and vegetarian dishes. Its roots maintain consumptional value for a long time and can be successfully stored in a fridge. A juicy daikon root is an excellent source of nutrients - B vitamins, niacin, and substantial doses of potassium and calcium. It also supplies plenty of dietary fibre.

The cultivation of daikon turns out to be the most successful on sunny and partially shaded situations, in a well-structured, permeable, humous soil. Sow seeds from mid-July to mid-August, 30 x 15 centimetres apart. Due to the length of the roots, we recommend to grow daikon in ridges. The vegetation period of the Alabaster F1 daikon lasts 75 to 85 days.
