Alpine poppy variety mix (Papaver alpinium), here offered in a variety mix, is a low-growing, undemanding perennial plant that produces beautiful, delicate blooms in a palette of bright, cheerful colours. This species develops in compact tufts of erect, stiff stems that are surrounded by pillows of feathery leaves at the bottom and may grow 15 - 20 cm tall. Atop the stems in July open flat blooms consisting of large, broadly spread white, creamy-white, yellow, pink and orange petals. This charming plant produces new blooms all summer long until September. We recommend to grow it on edgings or create colourful spots at the front of flower arrangements with them. The subtle alpine poppy would be a great companion for rock garden plants, such as Carpathian bluebell, Arizona beggarticks, sweet alyssum or common ice plant.

Seeds of the offered variety mix should be sown directly to the permanent site late in spring. They germinate rapidly in light, permeable soil. These perennials will grow broadly and bloom abundantly on sunny sites with humous, aerated, well drained soil. This plant belongs to short-lived species, but since it self-pollinates, you will enjoy its charming blooms for years to come.
