Butterfly Bush, sometimes called Black Knight, is a perennial plant which grows in a shape and form similar to a shrub, around 1.2 to 2 metres in height. It produces aromatic multi-coloured flowers that collectively make magnificent forms that resemble spikes. Butterfly Bush has a relatively long flowering period which spans from July to October. This exceptional variety is highly recommended for large perennial beds, lawns, or for a cut flower.

Growing: sow the seeds in planter boxes from March to April; cover the seeds with a thin layer of soil and use paper to make a shade The seeds germinate in 3 to 4 weeks at 20-22°C. Prick the seedlings out into pallet planters or pots (around 8 centimetres in diameter). Plant out into a permanent position in 0.8-1m spacings. This variety grows best in fertile permeable soils in sunny positions.
