Crimson beebalm or scarlet monarda (Monarda didyma), here sold as a variety mix, is a large perennial plant that blooms reliably and spectacularly all summer long. It develops stiff, slender, branched, 60 to 100 cm long stems that grow erect among numerous, slender, fragranced leaves. On the tops of the stalks form characteristic inflorescences built of round heads decorated with surronding them radially set, numerous elongated petals. The variety mix offered in our store allows to grow a beautiful composition of white, red and pink blooms. The plants retain their decorative value from end of June until September.
Seeds should sown onto a hotbed or seeding tray in April or at the beginning of May. Pricked out seedlings should be transferred to the target site in August and September. These plants are rather undemanding in regard to the soil type, that, however, must not be too dry nor to poor. Sufficient amount of water in the ground supports crimson beebalm's growth. Oswego tea, as it is sometimes called, looks great in larger groupings with a background of a border, or around a water basin.
Each package contains 0.1 g of crimson beebalm variety mix seeds. Package information contains a growing guide and the sow-by date.
