Carrot "Autumn King 2" (Daucus carota) is a late variety intended particularly for storage and for salads, juices and preserves. It develops large, long (up to 30 cm), cylindrical, orange roots with a red core. Their flesh is juicy and delicious. These carrots are rich in simple sugars, protein, essential oils, B vitamins and vitamins C, E, H, K and PP, as well as calcium, iron, copper, phosphorus and pectins. The most important carrot root compound is carotene, the source of provitamin A, that carrot is the richest source of among all vegetables. Apart from that carrot roots are low calorie and show anti-diabetic and anti-parasitic effects.
Seeds of the "Autumn King 2" carrots are sown directly to the ground, 1 - 2 cm deep in 30 - 40 x 5 cm spacings in April and May. The emergence occurs within 2 to 3 weeks after the sow. Do not forget to thin the young plants leaving 5 - 8 cm spaces between them. "Autumn King 2" carrot is harvest ready from August to October. Choose light, sandy or sandy-clay, moderately moist and slightly acidic soils and sunny sites for carrot cultures.
