Red martagon lily is a hybrid of the genus Martagon that produces dozens of relatively small flowers. The "Claude Shride" variety, eagerly grown and highly regarded by collectors, is an exceptional garden plant. It is perfectly suited for tall borders and flower beds. It will adorn showcase spots and places of relaxation. This majestic flowering plant can also be grown alone on lawns and cultivated for cut flowers.

This tall - up to 120 centimetres - plant is covered with cup-shaped, wine red flowers that are speckled with lighter, yellow dots. The airy, conical clusters of flowers look truly amazing. The down-facing flowers consist of narrow, bent petals. They appear on plants from June to August. Red martagon lily will become a true star of your garden with its distinct colour.

Martagon lily does not belong to plants that are difficult to grow. Please take into account that martagon lilies usually need at least one season to grow accustomed to a garden. Only after that period, martagon lily will fully develop its ornamental value. Turk's cap lilies require permeable, slightly alkaline, humous soil and a sunny or partially shady site, so the flowers and leaves are exposed to sunlight and the bottom part of the stem remains in shade. Plant lily bulbs in autumn, in September and October, weather permitting even in November. Recommended planting depth is 12 to 15 centimetres. Presented lily type does not like transplanting and grows best on one site for years. Martagon lily is fully winter hardy. Taking care of those plants is limited to removing of wilted inflorescences, fertilization with multicomponent fertilizers and watering during periodical droughts.

We hereby offer 1 bulb of the Red martagon lily sized 16 to 18 centimetres in circumference. The package label contains basic plant information and growing guidelines.
