Cucumber 'Cornichon de Paris' (Cucumis sativus) is an early variety recommended particularly for gherkins (vinegar pickles). Its fruit stand out with the exceptionally regular size and shape. Short, cylindrical fruit covered with the vividly green skin decorated with few warts look great in jars. It is worth mentioning that these cucumbers do not turn yellow in jars. Should you intend to use your crops for gherkins, harvest 3-to-5-cm-long cucumbers. You may pickle the larger ones in brine.
Sow 'Cornichon de Paris' cucumber seeds mid-May directly onto borders. These seeds have been covered with a special coating that protects them from diseases and soil pathogens. We recommend to grow these plants in 80-100 x 15 cm spacings. Harvest the fruit gradually as they ripen from middle of July until middle of September. Cucumber belongs to demanding plants and brings richest crops on warm, properly fertilized, sufficiently moist and properly drained soils. These plants are thermophilic, so grow them on a sunny and wind-sheltered site.
Each package contains 4 g of 'Cornichon de Paris' cucumber treated seeds. Growing instructions and the sow-by date are included in the package information.
