Dwarf cornflower (Centaurea cyanus nana), here offered in a variety mix, belongs to popular flower species eagerly planted in home gardens for generations. This annual dwarf variety grows 40 - 60 cm tall. It forms branched, erect, green tufts. Blue blooms occur most often, however this particular variety mix includes plants bearing pink, white and carmine-red flowers, too. Cornflower exuberantly and continuously produces flowers all summer long for almost ten weeks. This species is fitted for planting on larger areas, especially for creating flowery meadows, in rustic and naturalistic gardens. Flowers can be cut and put into vases.
Cornflowers are grown exclusively from direct sow to permanent site, as they do not stand transplanting. Bachelors button seeds, as this plant is also called, are sown early in spring. We can expect first seedlings to appear within approximately two weeks. These then need to be thinned to create 20-30 cm spacings between the plants. Cornflowers are rather undemanding in regard to soil type, provided it is moist, yet sufficiently permeable. This plant prefers sunny sites.
Each package contains 1 g of seeds of the low growing cornflower in a variety mix. The package information contains a growing guide and the sow-by date.
Approximately 220 seeds (+/- 20%)
