Farewell to spring, also called godetia (Clarkia amoena) belongs to the most stunning annual summer flowers. From June to September its subtle stalks are covered with large (up to 8 cm in diameter), but still delicate, basket-shaped blooms. The petals are deep red while the white centres of blooms form nice contrast. The flowers are bundled together at the tops of the stalks, that produce short, spiky leaves underneath. The plant forms a tight tuft that grows between 30 and 40 cm tall.
Farewell to spring requires fertile, humid garden soil on a sunny site. It grows best when sown directly into the ground end of March / beginning of April. After pricking the strongest seedlings should be left in the soil in 15-20 x 30 cm spacings. The red blooming variety offered in our shop could be combined with other godetias with white, pale pink or orange-pink flowers. It looks equally great in company of taller zinnias, asters and plumed cockscombs. Farewell to spring can also be grown in pots, cases and hanging baskets.
One packet contains 1 g of farewell to spring seeds. Sow-by date and growing guide are printed at the back side of the package.
