The 'Elatior Gigantea' garden primrose is a well-known perennial that flowers in early spring. Primroses, often interchangeably called primula, are distinguished by colourful flowers gathered in charming umbels. These plants grows up to 30 cm in height and can be mostly found on lower beds in company of bulbous flowers. They beautifully enliven the garden when planted on the edge of a flower bed or next to the sidewalk. They add a lot of charm and colour to rock gardens. Primrose is an indispensable plant for pots and containers. The energetic primrose clusters have bright green, glossy leaves. The flowers take on almost all colours of the rainbow - from creamy-white to dark purple, through red and pink. The common feature of all the colours is the yellow eye in the centre of the flower. The Gigantea varieties that are available in our store stand out with the above-average size of flowers. Primroses are extraordinary bouquet flowers that live long in vases. These plants bloom from March to May.

Primrose seeds should be sown in greenhouses from January to March. The well developed seedlings should be transferred to the permanent sites 30 x 25 cm apart. They are recommended for planting in sheltered places, e.g. under trees, where they will create colourful carpets. Primrose feels good in partial shade. It prefers humous and moist, heavier clay soils.
