"Varsovia Dana" hoary stock (Matthiola incana annua) is a variety that will enchant you with the magnificent inflorescences and the irresistible scent. This extremely ornamental plant develops one strong stem that grows 50 - 60 cm tall. In summer numerous, double blooms gathered in large, ear-shaped inflorescences develop atop the stems. Hoary stock look great planted in larger groupings on border centres. They fit into pots and containers that adorn your balcony, terrace or patio. We recommend to grow them in vicinity of your relaxation spots, so you could enjoy their beauty and subtle scent. However, hoary stocks are most commonly grown for cut flowers.

Hoary stock seeds should be sown early in spring in greenhouses, to pots or seeding trays filled with light permeable soil. Seedlings should be transplanted outside late in spring. Seedlings should be planted in 20 x 30 cm spacings. Hoary stock will bloom beautifully when you provide it with a place in the full sun. It prefers fertile, moist, yet permeable soils.
