Leafy Goosefoot is a very unique ornamental annual plant that grows 30 to 50 centimetres in height. Considered to be relatively easy to grow, it features long shoots with sharp-cut leaves. In the spring, the shoots produce a plethora of juicy fruit. Leafy Goosefoot leaves can be prepared and eaten like spinach, while the fruit resemble strawberries and are an edible portion, too. The plant has a most decorative value especially when grown in containers, flower beds or borders.
Growing: sow the seeds under cover in April or directly into soil, 1 centimetre deep, in early May. The seeds germinate in 7 to 14 days. Plant out into a permanent position in 15-25cm spacings when there is no risk of frost. The plants grow best in relatively moist fertile soils in sunny positions.
