Pink-flowered red-leaved wax begonia (Begonia semperflorens) is a true garden rarity. Although all wax begonias belong to eagerly cultivated annual flower bed plants, the variety offered here in our store is particularly unique. It is valued not only for the asymmetric, unusually shaped leaves and the juicy colour of its blooms. What makes it so special? Both leaves and the stems of the presented cultivar take on a dark, deep red colour that creates a great background for the single, numerous tiny blooms and harmonises with other plants. Pink-flowered red leaved wax begonia grows only 15 - 25 cm tall and is therefore perfectly fitted for border, lawn and rock garden edgings. You may also grow it in pots placed on well-lit windowsills, in balcony boxes and bowls located on stairs and terraces.
Begonia seeds are sown in a greenhouse or mini greenhouse at home. Winter and spring are the perfect time to start the culture. Gently press seeds into moist soil, yet do not cover them with it. Prick out the emerging seedlings twice, thin if needed and regularly sprinkle with water. Wax begonia blooms from June until first autumn frosts. It will grow best on sunny, warm sites with moderately moist, rather fertile and acidic soil.
Packages available in our store contain 0.05 g of seeds.
