Red dwarf aster 'Ribbon Red' is a cultivar that develops a compact habit and grows up to 25 cm tall. It blooms from July to October producing beautiful, double, peony-shaped blooms. Although this cultivar belongs to the literally dwarf ones, its flowers are exuberant. Their deep, red-pink colour make them a focal point of every garden arrangement. Petals of the 'Ribbon Red' dwarf aster have white, ornamental edges and yellow centres, what only adds to their charm. Modest size of the variety that is available in our store allow to grow it on edgings and against the background of taller plants. We recommend to plant it together with the 'Ribbon Blue' dwarf aster, wax begonia, yellow marigolds and multicoloured garden pansies.
Dwarf aster (Callistephus chinensis) grows well both from direct sow and from seedlings. It should be provided with a fertile, humous, permeable and sufficiently moist soil and a sunny site. Seeds should be sown in spring. Young plants should be planted on the permanent site in 25 x 30 cm spacings. Contrary to the other abundantly blooming species asters do not require extensive fertilizing. Packages available in our store contain 0.5 g of the 'Ribbon Red' dwarf aster seeds.
