Shiitake, or sawtooth oak mushroom, belongs to the most popular mushrooms in the world. Old Chinese tradition says that you need to consume shiitake mushrooms to maintain good health and live long. These fungi taste and smell great and also have medicinal effects. The compounds present in them beneficially influence our well-being, prevent from flu and some kinds of cancer. We recommend to grow those mushrooms on wood of deciduous trees, such as oak, hornbeam or beech.
