The Xenox orpine (Sedum telephium) is, by many, considered the ideal perennial for many reasons. Its over-average beauty and uniqueness attract attention, while it is extremely sturdy and undemanding. Decorative are both the leaves and shoots, and the flowers. The Xenox orpine develops purple stems with a reddish glow. Its fleshy, ovate, attractive, shiny leaves are also purple. Lush clusters of flowers in form of rounded panicles appear in August over the sea of red-purple leaves. These umbels consist of hundreds of vividly pink flowers. Presented perennial delights with the grandeur of bright colours and thanks to its compact appearance, it is perfectly suited for shaping into dense edgings and filling empty spaces left by naturalistic plantings and perennial groups. An additional, important asset of orpine is its ability to produce nectar - these excellent plants effectively attract useful insects to the garden.

We recommend putting orpine seedlings on a sunny situation in fertile, rather light soil with a neutral or alkaline reaction. This plant, offered in our garden store, shows excellent resistance to drought and frost. It does not require too fertile soil either. A beautifully coloured Xenox variety shall revive the monotony of any given perennial border. It is worth having it in a rock garden. Since it grows only about 40 centimetres tall it fits perfectly onto a front of a border or the centre of a composition. Sedum plants that produce darkly coloured foliage should be combined with the green-leaved varieties and those who produce light-coloured flowers (e.g. Stardust, Diamond Edge, Summer Surprise).

One package contains 1 first choice seedling. Essential growing instructions have been printed on each package.
