The Blue Melody camas is tuberous perennial that develops erect clusters of flowers that consist of dozens of star-shaped dark blue flowers. These flowers contain six petals and are adorned with longer yellow stamens and a tenderly green centre. They dazzle with an undeniable charm. Flower clusters that sit atop strong, erect, leafless stems unfold gradually starting from bottom and ensuring long lasting ornamental effect. Not only the flowering branches constitute an advantage of this plant. The camas, Indian or wild hyacinth, as this plant is also called, is marvellous plant that ideally fills the void that appears after the majority of bulbous flowers have wilted and the summer perennials have not entered the flowering period yet. The Blue Melody variety grows 30 to 60 cm tall and reaches similar width. This perennial is easy to grow and is perfectly suited for natural plantings and flower meadows. It looks great on borders in larger groupings. It harmonizes with pink and white coloured flowers, such as peonies, irises and larkspurs.

Schedule camas planting for the period from September to November. The planting depth should correspond with the size of the bulb. The site should be sunny or only partially shady. A fertile, humous and moist soil proves to offer the best growing conditions. Do not let the soil dry, as it will negatively affect the quality of flowers.  Apart from that, this species is rather undemanding and propagates quickly, what allows you to quickly grow abundant tufts of these beautiful flowers. Remove the flower heads after the have wilted and excavate the large bulbs at the beginning of July. Store them in airy, cool places.  The plant that we present here is not completely frost resistant and we therefore recommend to mulch it. Cover the soil with conifer twigs or a layer of natural mulch. The camas can grow at one site for at least several years. Its bulbs are usually excavated after 3 to 4 years. You would then need to remove the bulbils and plant them again.

Each package contains 10 bulbs of the Blue Melody camas sized 6 to 7 cm.
