Clematis ‘Golden Tiara’, also known as Russian Virgin's Bower, is a richly-flowering perennial vine that flowers within the first year of cultivation. This variety has very unique lantern-shaped yellow flowers that grow 4 to 5 centimetres broad and appear from the summer to early autumn. After the flowers have developed, the very attractive fluffy silver forms start to embrace the plant, adding to its exceptional decorative value. Clematis ‘Golden Tiara’ is recommended to be used to decorate walls, balustrades, old tree trunks or for planters.
Growing: sow the seeds in planter boxes or in covered pallet planters from March to April. The seeds germinate in 2 to 3 weeks at 16-20°C. Plant out into a permanent position in 50-70cm spacings in mid-May. The plants require rich permeable soils in sunny positions. In the following seasons, clip the shoots to make them grow 20 to 30 centimetres above the ground.
