Giant squash 'Melonowa Żółta - Cantaloupe Yellow' (Cucurbita pepo) is a medium early variety that produces extremely large fruit that weigh up to 25 kg. Spherical or slightly flattened fruit are covered with an orange skin that shows a hint of pink. It shelters crunchy and delicious flesh that contains plenty of carotene, dry weight, vitamins and minerals. Fruit of the 'Melonowa Żółta' variety are intended for direct consumption and production of juices, purees and other preserves. This cultivar is storable and the fruit maintain their quality over the winter.

Seeds of the 'Melonowa Żółta' variety should be sown mid-May directly to the field or slightly earlier into pots under covers. Due to the long, creeping stems of this cultivar we recommend to grow it in 2 x 1.5 m spacings. Fruit ripen at the end of summer, so the harvest needs to take place before the first frosts. Giant squash loves warm and sunny locations, but needs plenty of water, too. It will bear richest crops on fertile, medium heavy and moist soil.
