The narrow-leaved zinnia "Persian Carpet" (Zinnia angustifolia) is a broadly growing annual plant that grows 30 - 40 cm tall. It forms erect, densely branched stems grown with narrow, spiky and hairy leaves. From July to October inflorescences on long pedicels appear atop the stems. One plant may develop several dozens of inflorescences. The "Persian Carpet" variety produces bicolour blooms that take on different colours, from white, through yellow, crimson and red to purple. The blooms are gathered in double, semi-double and single inflorescences that reach 4 - 5 cm in diameter. Zinnias look great during hot and sunny summers. The narrow-leaved zinnia is often planted on borders, flower beds and in balcony boxes. Its blooms attract vast numbers of butterflies.

Seeds of the "Persian Carpet" zinnia should be sown in March - April under covers. Well developed seedlings may be transplanted to the permanent site in May in 15 x 20 cm spacings. Narrow-leaved zinnia should grow on sunny, warm and wind-sheltered sites. The plants need quickly warming up soils that are also moderately moist, permeable, fertile and rich in humus. A package contains 0,5 g of "Persian Carpet" zinnia seeds, as well as the sow-by date and growing instructions.
