Nigella, sometimes called the Yellow Fennel Flower, is an annual plant that grows 40 to 50 centimetres in height. Its little flowers appear from July to August; as the plant stops flowering, most of its decorative value is held by the lovely green infructescences that resemble a crown in shape. Having been cut and dried, Nigella keeps its original shape and colour, which makes it a wonderful solution especially for dried flower arrangements.
Growing: sow the seeds directly into the soil from April to May. The seeds germinate in 2 to 3 weeks. After the seeds have germinated, thin the seedlings to make them grow in 10-15cm spacings. This variety grows well in any type of soil in sunny positions.
