Oriental ladyfern "Ursula's Red" (Athyrium nipponicum) is a splendidly looking variety that stands out with a nice habit and extraordinary colouring of the leaves. This plant develops a compact, broad growth form and reaches 45-60 cm in height. The feathery leaves are silvery with a crimson-red veining. Plants grown on a shady site develop the most outstanding colours. Just like other ferns, "Ursula's Red" fits into shady, darker garden spots and is ideal for woodland, natural arrangements. You may plant it in company of different hosta (plantain lily) and alumroot (coral bells) varieties.
