Purple hoary stock (Matthiola incana annua) "Excelsior" is a well-known garden seducer. You cannot resist the charm of its long, abundant flower spikes. These might be cut for bouquets, that would last long in vases, or admired the whole summer long on borders and path edgings. The variety offered in our store grows 50-60 cm tall. Its erect, straight stalks produce thick clusters of large, spike leaves at the bottom, while at the top they form a plethora of light purple flowers gathered in elongated spikes.
In order to welcome the purple hoary stock "Excelsior" at your flower bed you need to sow the seeds into a cool hotbed or into any kind of container under glass in spring. The seedlings are transferred to the permanent site after May 15th. You should choose sunny sites with a fertile, humous soil that quickly warms up and does not flood in the rain. Together with this purple variety, other pastel-coloured - white, pink-orange or pink - ten-weeks stocks, as this plant is commonly called, can be grown. You should also consider creating an arrangement with needle petal, peony and Princess asters in different colours, as well as zinnias, black-eyed Susans, dahlias, phloxes, cosmoses and cockscombs.
Each package contains 0.5 g of purple hoary stock "Excelsior" seeds. The package information contains a growing guide and the sow-by date.
