Lettuce "Lentissima a Montare 3" (Lactuca sativa var. Longifolia) is a pale green romaine variety that is easy in cultivation thanks to its resistance to diseases. This presented variety forms long, erect heads that are compact at the base and consist of very large, oval, bright green leaves. They have firm, juicy petioles, while the surface of the leaf blades is soft and fleshy. Romaine lettuce "Lentissima a Montare 3" yields crops late, yet does not tend to sprout flowering stalks. Its large leaves taste great eaten raw, form great garnish and contain lots of calcium. They are also rich in kalium, magnesium, iron, zinc and vitamins, particularly vitamin B9 - the folic acid. Lettuce is in general dietetic, easily digestible and low-calorie.
The variety offered here may be grown from seedlings and direct sow to the ground. Harvest takes place in the second half of June the earliest and end of August the latest. In order to achieve rich crops you should grant romaine lettuce a place on a sunny border with light, not waterlogging, nor clumped soil with neutral reaction. This vegetable responds well to fertilisation, both organic and mineral, and does not present any special requirements in regard to nutrients.
