The tall red snapdragon (Antirrhinum majus) delights with its uniqueness. This is a tall annual plant with slender, erect stems that are crowned with long, spiked inflorescences. A single inflorescence consists of about a dozen large bilabiate blooms - in the variety that we offer here they take on a beautiful deep red colour. The tall red-flowered snapdragon belongs to the most popular and striking ornamental plants. It may be universally used in flower bed arrangements and is undemanding at the same time. It works particularly well as background for the lower growing annuals, such as scarlet sage, French marigold, flossflower or lower snapdragon cultivars. It also makes a great figure as acut flower, as it stays fresh in vases for a long time.

In order for the plant to grow and bloom abundantly we recommend to plant it on sunny sites in fertile, moderately moist, humous soil.

The tall red-flowered snapdragon begins to bloom in the middle of summer. Plants grown from seedlings produce flowers the earliest and therefore it is advised to sow seeds to boxes and pots in heated interiors in early spring already. When using this method you need to prick out the seedlings to peat pots, so you could transplant them to borders without taking them out of the container and thus avoiding damage to the roots.
