The 'Lotos' French bean is an excellent variety that produces crops early. Its erect, tall plants supply plenty of delicious, yellow pods with a slightly shiny skin. The presented variety is extremely productive and produces high percentage of marketable yield that consists of 14 cm long pods. These pods grow high at the plants what significantly facilitates harvesting. The early harvest and resistance to diseases belong to the valued characteristics of the 'Lotos' bean. The flesh of the pods is stringless, tender, crunchy and soft and juicy after cooking. One kilogram contains 238 pods.

The variety offered here can be harvested 68 days after the sow that takes place from 10 to 30th of May. Keep the rows 40-50 cm apart. Sow the seeds 3-5 cm deep. Grow the seedlings at least 8-10 cm apart. We recommend to grow 25-30 bushes on one square metre of land.

Bean is a thermophilic plant. Seeds should be sown in April for cultivation under covers and from mid May to end of June in case of open field cultures. The vegetation period lasts 69 days. Sow the seeds at the depth of 2-3 cm. The row spacing optimal for the proper development of the plants amounts to 35-40 cm. The required spacings between plants in rows should amount to 5-8 cm. You may sow both per broadcasting and per hole. The pods are gradually harvested over the course of several weeks.

French or green beans, as this vegetable is also called, has higher-than-the-average cultivation requirements. It prefers sunny and warm spots. A fertile, moderately moist soil rich in humus with slightly acidic reaction proves to be optimal for this plant. Bean bushes require frequent watering. This treatment is particularly important during the flowering and pod development stage. The site where young plants grow needs to be weeded regularly.

The French bean is a valued source of vitamin C and provitamin A. It also contains proteins and B vitamins. The tender pods are also rich in substantial doses of calcium, phosphorus and iron. It also contains strong antioxidants called flavonoids that prevent the free radicals from forming. This vegetable is also rich in fibre that supports the functioning of the digestive system.
