The "Tetra" garden dill (Anethum graveolens), ideal for early green harvest, is a popular variety with compact habit, very thick foliage and moderate growth. Bright green tufts of aromatic leaves reach circa 50 cm in height, what makes "Tetra" a perfect variety for cultivation in containers. The leaves, that in large numbers sprout from juicy, firm stalks, contain large quantities of healthy essential oils that support proper functioning of the digestive system. They also supply plenty of vitamins, particularly A and C, and minerals. Fresh or dried dill "Tetra" can be used as healthy spice in heavy, greasy dishes - roasted meats, potatoes or pastas. It also suits poultry and fish well. Stalks with umbels are also indispensible for pickled cucumbers.
Seeds can be sown to pots or directly the whole spring and summer long until beginning of autumn. Sowing every two or three weeks will ensure constant supply of aromatic leaves in the whole season. Seed material germinates abundantly and quickly, what makes the first harvest possible already 3 to 4 weeks after the sow. Dill grows best in standard pot soil, however, when we decide to grow it in the field, we should make sure the soil is moist and rich in humous and the site sunny.
