Hippeastrum – amaryllis – "Matterhorn" delights with trumpet-shaped, extraordinary blooms that take on a clean white colour. It proves to be a great balcony, terrace or sunny interior windowsill decoration as an abundantly blooming, truly unique plant. "Matterhorn" hippeastrum blooms 6-8 weeks after planting bulbs in moist soil. It sprouts dark green, linear, stiff leaves that form an abundant rosette first. Then a straight, naked stem sprouts from the bulb. Atop the stalk a few large – up to 30 cm in diameter – blooms appear. Their petals are broad, ornamentally waved at the edges and take on snow-white colour that contrasts with the greenish calyx base.
The perennial offered in our store belongs to the easy-to-grow and undemanding ones. Despite its impressive size (up to 50 cm in height) it does not need any special care measures: every humous pot soil and a sunny or partially shady site would suit it.
One package contains 1 "Matterhorn" hippeastrum - amaryllis bulb sized 24/26 cm. Bulbs have been grown in Holland.
