Hull-less squash 'Miranda' (Cucurbita pepo) is a variety that produces naked seeds without a hull. These compact, bushy plants usually produce 3-4 ribbed fruit that are green at the beginning, but turn slightly orange as they ripen. Fruit are filled with thick, orange flesh and large, olive green seeds that contain plenty of oil. You may eat them fresh like sunflower seeds, while those roasted with salt or sugar may substitute peanuts. You may add them to salads or sauces or bake bread and cakes with them.
Seeds of the hull-less squash are sown onto the field mid-May. You may also grow this vegetable from seedlings produced in pots. Fruit are harvested end of September / beginning of October. This is a thermophilic species, choose a warm and sunny place for its cultivation. Plants need regular watering and fertilizing in order to develop properly. Squash prefers moist soils that are rich in nutrients and warm up quickly in spring. 'Miranda' cultivar displays high resistance to fungal diseases.
