"Vanilla Ice" shield nasturtium (Tropaeolum ) is a plant that produces rapidly growing shoots that may reach up to 3 m in length. These stems may climb upon pergola mesh, trellises, forming a dense and tight covering for your favourite relaxation spots. Plants of this species look exceptionally attractive in hanging containers and boxes attached to balcony railings. "Vanilla Ice" variety develops large, sweet scented blooms that take on a subtle, light, vanilla-white colour contrasting nicely with the dark green colouring of the large, round leaves. This variety blooms long and abundantly. Its blooms develop from June until first frosts. Flowers, leaves and unripe nasturtium fruit may be used in salads or processed to delicious preserves.

"Vanilla Ice" shield nasturtium belongs to the plants that are very easy in cultivation. Its seeds should be sown directly to the permanent site at the beginning of May. Seeds should be placed 2 - 3 per hole in 40 x 40 cm spacings. These plants require sunny or partially shady sites and a light, moderately fertile and moist soil.
