Sprouting seeds - Tender mix in 250 g packages consist of specially selected seeds of tenderly tasting plants: alfalfa (Medicago sativa), Mung beans (Vigna radiata), red cabbage (Brassica oleracea var. capitata f. rubra), radish (Raphanus sativus) and lentil (Lens culinaris). A-few-days-old sprouts of the afore mentioned species constitute a healthy and delicious addition to sandwiches, toasts, salads, scrambled eggs and curd. All sprouts are rich in vitamins and easily assimilable minerals that human body utilises to much greater extent than the same nutrients available from mature vegetables. Freshly sprouted stems and leaves contain valuable chlorophyll and fibre and therefore beneficially affect metabolism. Young alfalfa is particularly recommended to breast feeding women and those in climacterium. It also protects from ostheoporosis, mildens rheumatic pains, while red cabbage sprouts improve overall body resistance. Lentil sprouts are a rich source of folic acid, decrease the risk of atherosclerosis and other cardiovascular diseases, as well as improve the functioning of the nervous system.
You may grow sprouts on the kitchen windowsill all year long. The container in which you will grow them needs to be clean, preferably washed in hot water. Soak the seeds in boiled, luke-warm water for 6 hours, drain and transfer to a sprouter or jar. Cover the jar with gauze and place at an angle that would allow excess water to run off. After that you would only need to rinse the seeds regularly 2 - 3 times daily with boiled water. After 4 - 5 days juicy leaves will be ready for consumption.
Large package contains as many as 250 g of "Tender mix" sprouting seeds. Sprouts growing guide and the sow-by date have been printed at the back side of the package.
