The Blue Spruce, also known as the Colorado Blue Spruce, is a slow-growing coniferous tree that grows up to 150 centimetres in height. Its most characteristic features include a regularly-shaped crown and sharp bluish-green needles that grow 2 to 3 centimetres in length. One particularly decorative aspect of the Blue Spruce is its light brown cones that can grow up to 12 centimetres long. The tree is most commonly grown in groupings as well as in pots.
Growing: sow the seeds in pots or in pallet planters from March to May. The seeds germinate irregularly over a period of several weeks. Plant out into a permanent position in September, around one metre away from other plants, as this variety is sensitive to overshadowing. The plants are little demanding in terms of soil.
