The 'Karen F1' cucumber is an early parthenocarpic variety, whose fruit are best suited for pickling in vinegar and brine. It is a multi-purpose cultivar that can be cultivated on the field and under covers. Plants of this variety develop almost exclusively female flowers that ensure high yield. The 'Karen' cucumber plants are low and develop shortened internodes. Their vigour can be described as average. Fruit of the presented variety takes on a cylindrical shape and its length to diameter ratio is about 3 to 1. The skin of the berries is dark green and densely covered with small spines. 'Karen F1' cucumbers will delight you with their taste, as they have been genetically modified to eliminate the bitterness. The variety is also resistant to the most popular diseases that plague cucumber and gourd cultures, such as the cucumber scab, powdery and downy mildew. These properties make the 'Karen F1' suitable for amateur, integrated and organic cultures. The reduction or even complete elimination of the chemical control agents from the cultures allows you to save time, money and ensure the eco-friendly character of the crops. The early yield constitutes circa 40% of the overall crop volume.

Fresh and pickled cucumbers constitute a very popular vegetable all around the world. It consists mostly of water, hence is low-calorie. It is valued for its delicious fresh taste. It deacidifies the body, reduces the kidney-related and rheumatism swellings, prevents from constipation. Cucumbers contain vitamins, minerals and folic acid. They are commonly used in cosmetics, as they soothe, nourish and cleanse the skin.

Cucumber plants are heat-loving (thermophilic) and therefore prefer sunny sites that are also sheltered from winds. They require a fertile, humus-rich soil that is rich in nutrients and warms quickly. Cucumbers require abundant watering during their growth stage. Sow cucumber seeds directly onto beds or grow seedlings first. The sow in the open can start in mid May. The seeding can take place earlier, but the beds need to be covered with agrotextile or garden fleece in that case. The sow in greenhouses and tunnels can start after mid March. The harvest begins depending on the weather when the fruit has reached the desired size. Harvest the fruit regularly every second day in order to stimulate the plants to continuously produce new fruit.
