"Saladin F1" cucumber (Cucumis sativus) is a variety intended for cultivation in a greenhouse or foil tunnel. It shows high resistance to temperature changes. It is a parthenocarpic variety, what means it can bear fruit without pollinating flowers. The plants develop mostly female flowers, what makes the harvest rich and reliable. The "Saladin F1" variety develops long, even 35 cm long, fruit covered with thin, dark green, smooth peel. They are a great addition to salads and sandwiches. Cucumber is a low-calorie and digestible vegetable. It consists predominantly of water (97%) and protein. It contains fats, sugars, vitamins and minerals, of which potassium plays the most important role. Cucumber peel has the highest nutritional value and therefore we recommend to eat cucumbers whole, unpeeled. Thanks to the content of basic compounds cucumber deacidifies the body. It also helps to dispose of the excess water and toxins. Cucumbers are also rich in numerous anti-cancer substances, flavonoids, lutein and caffeic acid among others.
Seeds of the "Saladin F1" cucumber are sown from January to March to pots under covers. Seedlings are transplanted to the permanent site 30 - 40 days after the sow in 60 x 60 cm spacings. In order to preserve the health of the fruit and even access to light you would need to grow the plants on horizontal supports. Cucumbers are ready for harvest from May to September. Harvest the fruit regularly every 1 - 2 days, choosing those with shiny and smooth skin. Choose warm and well lit sites with humous soil with high water capacity and rich in nutrients for cucumber cultures. One package contains 0.8 g of the "Saladin F1" cucumber seeds, as well as the sow-by date and growing instructions.
