The farewell-to-spring "Orange Glory" (Godetia grandiflora) is a plant that enchants with its subtle beauty. This annual species with loose habit develops moderately branched shoots covered with spiky leaves. Large, orange-red flowers form in leaf corners alongside erect shoots. Delicate, silky blooms appear in great numbers all summer long. The large-flowered godetia, as this plant is also called, would be the perfect choice for summer flower beds, it looks great planted on border edgings and in larger groupings, too. This plant perfectly fits into bowls and pots on balconies and terraces.

This undemanding and easily cultivated plant may be grown from seeds without any problems. Early spring is the perfect time for sowing farewell-to-spring seeds onto a hotbed in order to be able to transplant seedlings to borders already in May. You may also sow the seeds directly to the ground in the middle of spring. Godetia grows best and blooms abundantly in the sunny parts of the garden. It prefers heavy soils rich in nutrients and sufficiently moist.
