Bergenia (Bergenia cordifolia) of the "Purpurea" variety is a perennial plant producing bright pink flowers. It is an easy-to-grow and undemanding, universal plant that adapts to different conditions very well. It grows abundantly irrespective of the soil and access to light. This plant grows maximally 50 cm tall, yet may reach 100 cm in width. The tuft consists of large, leathery leaves. Dense rosettes are adorned with single, crimson-red flowering stalks in early spring and sometimes again in the summer. Bell-shaped, pink flowers gathered in loose grapes develop atop the stalks. Bergenia belongs to fully or at least partially frost-resistant plants. Low height and the decorative, shiny leaves make it a perfect covering plant. It is also recommended for edgings, rock gardens and pond edges. Thanks to its high tolerance to various conditions it is recommended as an alternative to the much more demanding hostas. It will also provide an excellent foreground for taller flowering plants that develop blooms in contrasting colours. Due to its quick growth bergenia may be used for covering larger areas and may be grown on uncultivated land, particularly under trees and shrubs.

The "Purpurea" bergenia will thrive on all permeable soils. It will dazzle with abundant, vividly coloured blooms even on sunny sites in meagre soils. Taking care of bergenias is limited to removing wilted flowering stalks and damaged leaves. The extensively grown tufts may be propagated by division in early spring.

One package contains 10 rhizome of the 1st choice. Growing instructions printed on the package.
