White Devil's trumpets win more and more followers, who introduce this plant to gardens and pots. We should, however, clearly distinguish them from Brugmansias, the angel's trumpets, perennial plants and close relatives of the metel, as the devil's trumpet is commonly called.
The devil's trumpet belongs to the Solanaceae family and is an annual plant. It is usually grown from direct sowing, sometimes you can find seedlings available on the market.
We offer high quality seeds of this wonderful plant. Devil's trumpet with white flowers is a splendid "shrub" that can be cultivated in the open air in the second half of summer or in any kind of containers.
Erect, branched stem ends with large, conical flowerheads. This plant was named after the shape of its blooms. The flowers are pointed upwards, smell beautifully, particularly in the evening. Clustered, white petals of the corona have a nice, velvety coating. Pinnate leaves are irregularly shaped. The plant usually grows approximately 70 cm tall.
Devil's trumpet is a great plant to decorate terraces, balconies and relaxation spots. When grown in an decorative pot and placed in a central location, it will bring exotic flavour to our environment. It will also fit to borders, as an eye-catching addition to perennial plants. Planting devil's trumpet along walls or buildings will also bring out the most of its decorative value.
Cultivation of the devil's trumpet is not the easiest one. The look of the flowering plant is worth the effort, though. This plant grows best on sunny or partially shady sites that should be sheltered from the wind. It requires fertile, nutrient-rich soil. As a vigorous plant it also has high demands regarding fertilization and watering. You should choose fertilizers appropriate for this particular species. Regular watering, in high temperatures even twice a day, is of essence. The water, however, should not gather in the pot tray. Seeds are sown to pots in March and the seedlings are transplanted into open air after May 15th. Devil's trumpet blooms from July until October.
