The yellow bigfruit evening primrose (Oenothera missouriensis) belongs to undemanding, easily cultivated perennials. This small plant that reaches up to 30 cm in height sprouts branched, creeping stalks covered sparsely with hairy, spiky leaves. Dozens of large, cup-like blooms with yellow petals appear between the foliage all summer long, from June until September. This presented variety develops strong root system, what makes older plants resistant to draughts. This makes the Ozark sundrop or Missouri evening primrose, as this plant is also called, an ideal addition to rock gardens, walls, embankments and flower beds with lesser soils.

The seeds should be sown in boxes or seeding trays in winter and spring. The seedlings need a permeable soil and regular watering. It is advised to transplant developed seedlings onto a permanent site end of summer/ beginning of autumn. They do not require a fertile soil, it only needs to be permeable. Exposure to sun also plays a major role. Broad, green tufts sprinkled with beautiful, bright flowers would look great in company of blue perennial flax, intensely purple-coloured catmints, differently coloured lobelias or the silvery-violet Cupid's dart (Catananche caerulea).
