Love lies bleeding "Grand" (Amaranthus caudatus) is an unusual annual plant with branched, densely leaved shoots that may grow up to 2 m tall. The upper parts of the shoots bend over under the weight of ornamental and fluffy inflorescences that are commonly called "foxtails". These inflorescences consist of tiny, dark pink blooms that are gathered in spikes. The "Grand" pendant amaranth, as this plant is also called, blooms from July to October. It may be planted in groupings, or as a solo entertainer on lawns or in rows alongside fences. It also works well as cut flower in fresh and dried bouquets. Love lies bleeding's (amaranth's) seeds display high nutritional value and have healing powers. They contain plenty of protein and fibre. They are recommended for people suffering from allergies, vegetarians and in arteriosclerosis and digestion system prophylaxis. A gluten-free flour is made of them.

Sow the tassel flower, yet another name for the plant, in April under covers or in May directly onto the field. You have to prick out the seedlings and then transplant them to the permanent site at the end of May in 50 x 80 cm spacings. Light, lime and moderately compact soils on sunny and warm sites suit love lies bleeding the best way.

A package contains 0.5 g of love lies bleeding (pendant amaranth) "Grand" seeds, as well as the sow-by date and growing instructions.
