"Allegro" oriental poppy (Papaver orientale) is an elegant biennial plant that blooms abundantly at the end of spring and beginning of summer. The natural charm of the poppies that comes from their loose habit, decorative shape of the leaves and high ornamental value of the blooms make this presented species a great decoration of borders, flower beds and containers. This variety develops large, boat-shaped flowers that consist of broad, carmine-red petals and convex black centres. It usually grows 40 cm tall on average.

You may seeds early in spring to a hotbed or later directly to the permanent site. Poppies prefer light, fertile, non-drying soils. They will thrive in every non-acidic soil enriched with a solid dab of compost and properly watered. There beautiful, tender blooms may be adorned from May to July. They can be cut and put into vases.
