Yellow pepper 'Calipso', for cultivation in low tunnels and outdoors, is a variety yielding rich crops of large, delicious, fleshy fruit. Plants of this variety grow 50-55 cm tall and are decorated on average with 14 to 18 rectangular fruit during the cropping season. A well developed berry grows 8-9 cm long, 7-8 cm wide and weighs 140-180 g. Fruit in the early harvest ripeness stage are pale green, while the physiologically ripe ones are vividly yellow. The harvest takes place 70-75 days after transplanting seedlings to the permanent site.

Pepper (Capsicum annuum) belongs to the nightshades family and is closely related to tomato. It is one of the healthiest vegetables that you could grow on your border in our climate.

Yellow pepper 'Calipso' contains a lot of vitamins (mostly vitamin C and beta-carotene) and minerals (including calcium, potassium, phosphorus and magnesium). Eating peppers supports the body by lowering blood pressure, improving natural body resistance and is an important part of the cancer prophylaxis, since the fruit are a rich source of lycopene.

This variety, offered in our store, should be grown from seedlings that you may easily produce at home. Sow seeds in spring to transplant young plants to the borders end of spring / beginning of summer. If you wish to grow pepper outdoors, choose a warm, wind-sheltered and sunny site.
