Pumpkin ‘Justynka’ is a recent variety with very ornamental fruit. This plant does not grow very quickly; it assumes a shrubby shape and produces fruit that grow 2.5 to 3.5 kilograms in weight. The fruit have an orangish-red skin with several pink stripes; the dark orange flesh is soft, around 5 centimetres thick, and rich in carotene. It can be drunk in the form of a juice, or used as an igredient in fruit products or cakes. Also, Pumpkin ‘Justynka’ is suitable for storing even over a long period of time, and is not damaged very easily, therefore it can be transported over long distances, which is a great advantage for using this variety in the processing industry.
Growing: sow the seeds directly into the soil in May; sow 2 to 3 seeds in each position in 1x1m spacings. Alternatively, you can prepare the seedlings in pots – sow them in late April and plant out into a permanent position in mid-May. The plants grow best in moist fertile soils in sunny positions.
