Red sunflower (Tithonia rotundifolia), also known as mexican sunflower, is a close relative to popular asters. This is a charming, tall annual plant that produces large numbers of round blooms. The anthodia have round, yellow centres and broad, striped, vividly orange petals. They grow atop branched stalks that form broad tufts reaching 80-100 cm in height. Presented plant will look particularly attractive in large groupings, as background for lower growing garden flowers, like dwarf zinnias, garden comoses or marigolds. It can also act as a shield for plants that are vulnerable to strong winds. Because of its quick and rich growth it will also act wonderfully as a solo entertainer.

Red sunflower seeds should be sown into containers in early spring. Strong seedlings with at least a few pairs of leaves can be transplanted into ground end of spring/ beginning of summer. These plants prefer medium compact, humous and medium humid, light soils. They bloom abundantly and extremely long, from July until first frosts in October, in a fertile soil.

One packet contains 0.5 g of red sunflower seeds. Sow-by date and growing guide are printed at the back side of the package.
