"Mercado de Paris 3" carrot (Daucus carota) is a variety developing roots that take on an intriguing, round shape, reach ca. 4 cm in diameter and are vividly orange. The roots stand out with sweet taste and do not tend to accumulate nitrates. The attractive, original shape make these carrots ideal for garnishing dishes. They also taste great raw or cooked.
Carrot roots are rich in sugars, proteins, essential oils, vitamins, calcium, iron, copper, phosphorus and pectins. Carotene, source of the provitamin A, does not come up in such quantities in any other vegetables and is the most valuable component of carrot roots. Apart from that carrot roots are low in calories, help fight diabetes and parasites.
Seeds of the "Mercado de Paris 3" carrot are sown in March directly to the field in rows 25 cm apart. You need to thin the seedlings in April-May, keeping 4-5 cm distances between the plants. You will be able to harvest the roots in June already. Choose light, sandy or sandy-clay, moderately moist and slightly acidic soils and sunny sites for carrot cultivation.
One package contains 2 g of "Mercado de Paris 3" carrot seeds, as well as the sow-by date and a growing guide.
