The sun star Ornithogalum dubium, sometimes also called star of Bethlehem is a beautiful, compact bulb perennial that produces juicy orange blooms. This extraordinary species is recommended for pot cultivation at home. Early blooming belongs to the undisputed advantages of the sun star. Flowering of this exceptional plant takes place in the winter and in early spring. The plant initially sprouts light green, linear, erect leaves, among which an erect, 30 - 35 cm tall flowering stalk emerges. A cone-shaped inflorescence consisting of tiny, star-shaped, bright orange flowers develops atop the flowering stalk. The adorable sun star is very easy to grow and blooms reliably up to six weeks long. The plant offered in our garden store will prove to be an excellent windowsill decoration an will introduce spring climate to your home already in February.

Bulbs of the sun star should be planted in bowls and pots into standard garden soil spilled over a drainage layer. The perennial presented here prefers bright, sunny sites, e.g. an East or South facing windowsill. It easily propagates of the adventitious bulbs and provides excellent cut flowers that can be used in bouquets and placed in vases.
