Sowing Depth

The optimal sowing depth for Sweet William seeds is 0.5 cm. This depth provides the seeds with adequate conditions for germination, and the soil ensures the necessary moisture. It's important to remember that sowing too deeply can hinder germination.

Direct Sowing Period

When is the best time to sow Sweet William seeds directly in the ground? The optimal period is from May to June, when the soil is sufficiently warm, promoting quick germination and further plant development.

Sowing Period Under Cover

When to sow Sweet William seeds under cover? The best period is also from May to June. Growing under cover provides protection from adverse weather conditions and allows for an earlier start to the gardening season.

Planting Time

The best time for planting Sweet William is from July to August. The plant should be well-developed to be moved to a permanent place in the garden, allowing it to establish fully before winter arrives.

Plant Spacing

Sweet William requires appropriate spacing to provide the plants with sufficient space to grow. The recommended spacing is 20x35 cm, which allows for free air circulation between plants and minimizes the risk of diseases.

Companion Planting

Sweet William pairs wonderfully with other ornamental plants such as lavender, roses, and cornflowers. This type of companion planting highlights the charm of its flowers and creates a cohesive, harmonious space in the garden.

Site Conditions

Sweet William thrives in sunny or partially shaded positions with deeply drained, fertile soil. Avoid shaded and overly moist areas that may lead to fungal diseases. Regular watering during dry periods and moderate fertilisation will allow you to enjoy beautiful blooms for a long time.

Growing Tips

Growing Sweet William requires little effort, making it an ideal choice for novice gardeners. However, it's important to regularly remove spent flowers to extend the blooming period. The plant is cold-hardy, but in harsh winters, a light cover is advisable. Ensuring proper soil and light conditions promotes healthy growth.

Plant Height

Sweet William reaches a height of 35 to 50 cm, making it a perfect choice for low borders and as an edging along garden paths. Its compact form and abundant flowering make it indispensable in garden arrangements.

Flowering Period

The flowering period of Sweet William occurs from June to August. During this time, its flowers reach their full beauty, decorating the garden with a colourful carpet and drawing attention with their scent.

The quality control process

All our seeds must pass a four-stage quality control process.

Stage one begins with a careful selection of the suppliers. Than we proceed with controlling their crops, foreign producers are not excluded from the quality control process. Plants are checked at every stage of their development: when they start to grow, during blooming and when they start bearing fruit (seeds). At this stage the most important thing is to ensure proper spacing of the plants. Thanks to that obtaining the desired morphological characteristics of each particular species or variety, such as colour, height and shape, can be ensured.

Stage two consists of a detailed verification tests in laboratory conditions. With the use of the highest quality equipment by the highly qualified staff, our suppliers perform more than 30 000 quality checks annually. The seeds that do not meet our requirements are subject to technological refining processes, including drying, cleaning, upgrading and testing again.

Stage three starts with sowing seeds in selected control plots. That way we obtain valuable, exact information concerning their germination that must be maintained at an appropriate level. Simultaneously, the varietal identity of each species is checked at this stage.

Stage four takes place in our warehouses and consists of eliminating seeds that have been stored for too long on our shelves and replacing them with new batches. Each package is stamped with a unique batch number and also with the sow-by-date.

All four stages combined allow us to state with confidence that the seeds we deliver comply with the highest standards and have completed all required control stages with flying colours.
