Alpine columbine (Aquilegia alpina) is one of the attractive perennials that you can host in your garden. Its tufted habit and numerous bell-shaped violet-blue flowers determine the stunning appearance of this plant. Columbine produces leaves already in early spring in the form of basal, lobed, tripartite, compound leaves. From the middle of those subtle, airy tufts, grow quite thin, naked, 50 to 60 centimetre tall stems. Atop of them sit slightly waxy flowers that consist of five flat petals and five more with short, backward pointing spurs. Alpine columbine blooms at the turn of spring and summer. The unique shape of its flowers is worth displaying in larger groups on a flowerbed, in a naturalistic arrangement, or a rock garden. You can also cut them and form in breathtaking bouquets and compositions.
Alpine columbine grows best in cool, fertile, moist, but at the same time permeable, soil. It prefers sunny or partially shady sites. Presented perennial is rather tolerant when it comes to the soil and usually grows well in most gardens. After planting, the columbine does not require any special care. It should grow at the same site for several years.
Each package contains one first-choice seedling of the Alpine columbine. Packaging label contains basic plant facts and a quick growing guide.
