White head cabbage "Amager Polana" (Brassica oleracea var. capitata) belongs to late varieties, as it usually takes 135 days from seedlings planting to harvest. It develops round or slightly flattened, medium large heads that may weigh up to 3.5 kg. Large leaves, covered with waxy coating are densely packed. One of the biggest assets of this cultivar is high resistance of the heads to breaking. The "Amager Polana" variety stands out with its exceptional taste and is particularly recommended for direct consumption, both raw and cooked. You may also pickle it or store short-term.

This vegetable is easy in cultivation and quite resistant to weather conditions of Central Europe. Medium compact soils rich in humus and water, yet not water-logged would suit head cabbage cultures best. At the beginning of the vegetation cabbage is sensitive to long-lasting cold periods that might cause it to develop flowering stalks. Sow cabbage seeds in spring onto a seed bed in the sunny part of your garden. Transplant them to the permanent site when the spring will be in full swing in 70 - 50 cm spacings. "Amager Polana" cabbage heads are harvested end of October.
